Bolero Association Limited (BAL) is owned by
its members. It was formed in 1995 and includes all Bolero users as well as
cross-industry bodies that support Bolero's goal of creating the electronic
alternative to paper-based trade. The Bolero Association has an important role in
representing its members and participants in dealing with the Bolero System operating
company (Bolero International Limited), administering the enrolment process and the Bolero
Rule Book (the governing document for all users of the Bolero System), administering
member disciplinary procedures and running a number of user groups covering issues of
particular interest to its members and participants.
Although BAL enjoys a close working relationship with Bolero International Limited, the
two companies are separate legal entities. Bolero International is jointly owned by
S.W.I.F.T. (Society for Worldwide interbank Financial Telecommunications), Through
Transport Mutual Insurance Association Ltd. (TT Club), APAX Partners, Baring Private
Equity Partners and Palio Portfolio Ltd. and is responsible for the operation of the
Bolero System.
